This February 2012, our bookings were much more diverse than just month long renters escaping the North’s harsh winters. 51% of our bookings for February 2012 were comprised of bookings that ranged from 3 night to 7 night bookings. That’s up 26% from February 2011.

Who is it that’s coming to Panama City Beach in February? Before I go much further, I would like to clear up any miss-conceptions about who our snowbird guests are. I have met many of our snowbird guests. They are active, fun loving adults who are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend their winters on the most beautiful beaches in the world. They are not the gray headed octogenarians you conjured in your head from before, so no hate mail please. So, once again, who is coming to the beach in February?

February in Panama City Beach and surrounding areas is starting to heat up with activity. Take events like Mardi Gras at the Beach which is a weekend long Mardi Gras celebration that ran February 17th and 18th. We had record attendance for the parade, the food vendors, and all of the fun that is Mardi Gras at Pier Park. Other events in February included car shows, wine and art events, and 5K run/walk events. South Walton beaches including Scenic 30A also plays host to a myriad of events for February beach goers.

The people who are going to the beach in February are families, young and old couples, groups or enthusiasts, anyone who has any interest in the growing number of events shaping up on the beaches in February.

Why else are people going to the beach in February? Weather. With an average observed temperature of 66 degrees, families are making short get away trips to enjoy the beaches on Panama City Beach in February.

With the influx of happenings and activities in what others would consider the “off” season at the beach, Panama City Beach Florida is becoming a year round destination for young and old alike. Oh, and for the record, the couple featured in this post are my own mother and father. They were not harmed in the writing of this article
