Orphaned Tents in Panama City Beach equals Sanitation Safety Concerns

Hi and thanks for coming to the beach.

Richard Jackson, Panama City Beach Manager, doesn’t want to ruin your vacation, but he doesn’t appreciate the souvenirs you are leaving behind en masse. What is he talking about? Orphaned tents.

According to Jackson, tents left on the beach overnight pose significant threats to sea turtles and sanitation workers. They are also an eye sore to new visitors who come to the beach for the emerald green waters, not to see a tent city.

From a letter written to property owners and to property managers dated July 1st 2011…

“Effective immediately, we are directing the trash service to collect and dispose of orphaned tent, which are so disheveled that they have more likely than not been abandoned…. Please advise your residents and guests of the City’s action and intention, so that they will not be surprised should their tent disappear.”

The recommended course of action for you and your tent is to move your tents nightly to the dune line to keep them from being gathered up and thrown away.

What You Know Could Save Your Life In Panama City Beach Florida

What am I talking about? I am talking about the Panama City Beach Flag Warning System. Why am I talking about it? Because if you pay attention to it, it could save your life. I have been to Panama City Beach and have watched, on more than one occasion, Panama City Beach Gulf Rescue pull a lifeless body out of the surf because someone did not heed the Double Red Flag warning.

The Double Red Flag means “WATER CLOSED TO PUBLIC”. Plain and simple, if it is double red flagged, stay out of the water. There has been talk of fining individuals that have to be rescued from double red flagged water, and I agree that the city of Panama City Beach should start levying steep fines against people who don’t pay attention to the flag system for putting rescue workers lives at stake. Take a look at news and statistics for drownings in Panama City Beach and you’ll get the picture.

If you are too bull headed to heed the warning system and get caught in a rip tide, the following is information that could help;

HOW TO SURVIVE RIP CURRENTS

• Know how to swim
• Always swim at guarded beaches
• Remain calm.
• Swim out of the current by swimming parallel to shore until you break through
• Float if you cannot swim out of the current
• Use a flotation device if you attempt to rescue someone.

I am not trying to ruin your vacation, I am just trying to save your life. But then again, drowning on vacation could really ruin your vacation too. Just sayin….

Top 10 Myths About Panama City Beach Florida

With the 2011 Vacation season fast approaching us, we at www.bluesunproperties.com would like to take the time to dispel some of the top rumors plaguing our beautiful beaches. Here are the top 10 myths about Panama City Beach as we see them presented in no particular order.

It’s Just A Wild Party Town – 11 months of the year, Panama City Beach Florida is a pretty laid back vacation destination. Spring Break is where Panama City Beach gets this reputation from. Fortunately Spring Break is only February 15th to April 15th and a portion of that time is family Spring Break and not the wild college Spring Break. May and June are great months to go to Panama City Beach and so are August, September, October, and even November. These are the most laid back months.
It’s The Red Neck Riviera – This myth was started way back when the beach was lined with small mom and pop type accommodations and attracted vacationers who were on a serious budget and luxury accommodations were not available. That is just not true any more. Prior to the housing bust in 2008, several large scale development projects took place including Aqua, Calypso, Sterling Breeze, Palazzo, and Emerald Beach. These are luxury, upscale accommodations that cater to even the most discriminating traveler. Add in gourmet restaurants, Pier Park shopping and entertainment, Seafood Wine and Music Festival, and you have a really classy little place on the beach.
The Beaches Are Dirty – Just not true. Panama City Beaches have the whitest, finest sand around and Panama City Beach does a great job in policing litter and junk.
There’s Nothing To Do – Every time I go to Panama City Beach, I always have a hard time choosing what I want to do. No matter who you go to the beach with, they will find something to do. There is Gulf World, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, Wonder Works, golfing, deep sea fishing, para-sailing, shopping, dining, there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Oh yeah, there’s miniature golf and go carts too
It’s Too Expensive – Panama City Beach is competitively priced with other vacation destinations and I would even venture to say much less expensive. Orange Beach Alabama is much more expensive. If you compare Panama City Beach to other popular Gulf destinations like Destin, Clearwater, Sarasota, Corpus Christie, Fort Walton, you will see that Panama City Beach is the best, most affordable beach destination.
The Water Is Toxic Because Of The Oil Spill – Just not true. The oil spill had limited effect on Panama City Beach. The Water is safe.
There Are No Good Restaurants – I have personally dined at some great restaurants in and around Panama City Beach Florida. Salt Water Grill, Boatyard, Uncle Ernies, FireFly, The Terrace, Tuscan Grill, Guy Harveys, Cafe 30A, Bud and Alley’s, you could eat at a different restaurant every night for 2 weeks and not run out of great dining options.
It’s Not A Year Round Destination – This used to be the case but the TDC in Panama City Beach has done a great job at attracting venues that keep the beach hopping year round. Thanksgiving is becoming a very popular time to go to the beach and we are booked solid for New Years Eve. I have been in PCB in October and it felt like I was there in peak season. There’s always a great time to go to Panama City Beach.
All The Restaurants Close In The Winter – There are a few restaurants on the East end of the beach that do close during the winter and that angers the locals there. Many restaurateurs recognized that and have kept their restaurants open year round. All of the restaurants at Pier Park stay open all year round as do all of the restaurants on 30A.
The Beaches Are Crowded – There is plenty of beach. More than enough for everyone to claim there spot in the sun. Panama City has 27 miles of white sandy beach and if you want something really low key, check out St Andrews State Park. There are weeks/weekends that do have higher than normal occupancy and those are Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Just like at your local lake or park, density will always be higher during these times.

Reclusive Workaholic Disappears While On Vacation In Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH – The disappearance of reclusive workaholic Scott Jeffries while vacationing in Panama City Beach doesn’t seem to upset his wife, Ruby, in the least bit. The couple rented a Panama City Beach Condo for a much needed vacation.

“We arrived in Panama City Beach on Saturday and spent a few hours on the beach and watched a beautiful sunset. We walked over to Pier Park and had a great dinner, and later retired to our luxury gulf front King Bed master and listened to the waves gently lull us to sleep,” Scott’s wife Ruby told our reporters.

“The next morning I woke up and slipped out of the bedroom, made a cup of coffee, and watched dolphins frolic in the Gulf. It was beautiful. I was quiet and didn’t wake Scott when I got up and didn’t even really look to see if he was in bed.”

According to Ruby, there was a man in bed when she woke up, but it wasn’t her current reclusive workaholic husband. “This smiling, happy, stress free guy joined me on the balcony with a cup of coffee in his hand and leaned over and kissed my forehead. Initially, I was shocked.”

It took the stranger a little while to calm Ruby, but it was discovered that he was in fact Scott, just not the reclusive workaholic that Ruby went to the beach with. “Funny story. It turns out the guy on the balcony with me this morning was the man I married some twenty years ago, the man I originally fell in love with,” Ruby told reporters. “The old workaholic has disappeared, and I don’t miss him a bit. It’s amazing how much he changed while we were in Panama City Beach”

Officers were called to the scene but no arrests were made.
